"Dickerson writes in a stream-of-consciousness style, songs full of mundane details and stray thoughts and small asides, songs often about writing songs, about breaking for lunch or stopping at the store or watching a news report on TV. But in Dickerson’s hands these mundane details sparkle with gentle light, a poignancy we all recognise but would struggle to describe."

Loom Records. December 13, 2019.
Ginger Grapefruit was written and recorded from 2018 – March 2019, during another period of displacement following an accidental flood in March of 2018. Kevin Dickerson's memoir-like approach to lyrical themes create an interconnected world that doubles down on experimentation and pushing the boundary of what it means to be a songwriter. Some of the poetic themes across its 59 minute running length include natural disasters (including a highway-splitting subarctic earthquake, wildfires, inevitable mass shootings, the movie Roma by director Alfonso Cuarón, the latest "overdose or heart attack death" of your latest celebrity hero (was it Daniel Johnston, Tom Petty, or David Berman?), citrus-scented deoderant, the appointment of the abusive Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, missing Mexico, the genius of Bill Hader in the HBO series Barry, running into Meric Long (The Dodos) at a concert, bathroom renovations, and a blanket apology to Phoebe Bridgers for being unable to keep up with it all. The chaotic horror of daily life has never sounded so beautiful.
